There is little question that Mr. Cochran was a great attorney with many great legal victories. However, I find it curious that no one ever speaks of Mr. Cochran's high profile client just before OJ. No, not Michael Jackson. After Michael and before OJ, Mr. Cochran and his associate, Carl Douglas represented the University of Southern California in a landmark discrimination case that resulted in not only increasing the academic support for (and performance of) black student-athletes at USC, but over time, throughout the NCAA. The irony is that this increase of almost 50% in the graduation rate of USC football players came about because Mr. Cochran and USC LOST THE CASE. The 12-0 unanimous verdict against USC was rendered just 6 days before the bodies of Ron Goldman and Nicole Simpson were found. How do you think Mike Garrett got his job? Look it up...
